Chapter 1: My Life and Friends

The story has now begun.

Here's how it all began.(Max Explainning). The year was 1982. I was living a happy life on a farm that was owened by Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgibbon. I have lived there for quite awhile. I was alert about their cat, Dragon. I had lived a safe distance away from where they lived.

I was living at a stream under a tree, but some other people were living there as well.

I knew only one of them though, that was Johnathan. Me and him had spent a long time being friends, until he got married to someone I did not hear about. "I'm getting married to a lovely lady I talked to," Johnathan exclaimed.

Brendan's Discovery

I rediscovered this little piece I wrote a while back for a creative writing class I took in college. While the story isn't strictly NIMH-based as written, it was originally conceived as being a potential scene in that Return to NIMH fanfic I've been writing off and on for a while now. Unfortunately, I had to make enough adjustments to my story idea that this scene probably wouldn't work in the story anymore. Still, I consider it as taking place inside the story's universe.

Basically, Brendan was conceived as the son of Timothy Frisby, and has inherited his fathers curiousity for the world, although it is also combined with a slightly rebellious attitude, which gets him into trouble in this story when he meets up with some humans...

My Contest Entry: Why We Fight

Why We Fight

My mother appeared in the doorway to the Head Teacher's office, looking as close to furious as I had ever seen my calm, collected mother look. Her face was tense, her hands clenched tightly at her sides, so hard that her knuckles had turned white.

Uh-oh...I'm toast.

I sat in the hard wooden chair across from the Head Teacher's desk. The teacher, Catherine, did not look any happier than my mother. My ears were still ringing after the long, drawn-out lecture I'd gotten from her about five minutes earlier.

Then again, I thought, Once I tell Mom why I did it, she'll understand...I hope.

Finally, I'm here.

Well, well. The site is back up and the minute I heard this news, I registered and became a member. I'm also a part of the forum where I submitted my fic, Mr. and Mrs. Brisby. I've been a strong fan of NIMH for a while. I own the movie, the book, and I'm in line to get an orginal storyboard art signed by Don Bluth himself. So, what do I plan on doing here. Well, for starters I'll try and submit Mr. and Mrs. Brisby. Simon will be the judge of whether it's fanfiction archive material. If he approves then that's great. Glad to be here and I'll stop by whenever I can.

Justin, Captain of the Guard

Okay, I haven't seen any submissions yet, so I guess I'll start the party. This is a short that follows Justin during the last day the rats are in the rosebush. I may add to it a little, later, but for right now I think I'll call it done. Here goes nothing...

It’s a strange thing, routine is. When you live your life by one, time doesn’t seem to matter. Each day melts into the next, everything the same. Every once in a while, things happen to disrupt that routine, and those are the things you remember. But mostly though, life is uneventful. At least, that is, until everything changes.
