The story has now begun.

Here's how it all began.(Max Explainning). The year was 1982. I was living a happy life on a farm that was owened by Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgibbon. I have lived there for quite awhile. I was alert about their cat, Dragon. I had lived a safe distance away from where they lived.

I was living at a stream under a tree, but some other people were living there as well.

I knew only one of them though, that was Johnathan. Me and him had spent a long time being friends, until he got married to someone I did not hear about. "I'm getting married to a lovely lady I talked to," Johnathan exclaimed. "Really? That's great Johnathan! Who is it?" I said. "You'll find out soon enough Max." He answered. "What's she like?" I questioned. "She's beautiful and wonderful and anything nice you can think of." He replied. "Johnathan? Johnathan? Where are you?" yelled someone. "Mrs.Brisby! I was just here talking to my friend here Max." Johnathan said handsomely. "Oh, i'm sorry, I didn't realize you, Max. Where do you live?" Mrs.Brisby said. "I live under a tree near a quiet yet peaceful stream." I answered nicely. "So do Johnathan and I! What does it look like?" she questioned me again. "Oh well, it's not like what you will be called a good home, I live in a safe log from the cat, Dragon and any other predators." I answered. We live in a half-buried cinderblock near the tree as well." Johnathan said.

As our conversation had killed time, it was getting late and Dragon would be lerking about. "I'd better get home quick!" I exclaimed. "Whys that? Is there something wrong Max?" said Mrs.Brisby nicely. "I just need to get back home or nightcrawlers might get inside my house. I have a nerve on those darn things." I answered.

After we went home, we said good night and waved good-bye. I could clearly see the fireflies sparkling about. Then on the far side of the barn, I could see Dragon trying to catch some fireflies. I was alert and ran to my house, home free.

Once I got inside, I went straight to my bedroom and got in bed. Once I hit the pillow, I was sound asleep.............
